Sometimes Self Love looks like a stack of pancakes with homemade, infused strawberry syrup and coconut whip cream for the person you get to wake up to every day...YOU!
There was a time that I thought I loved myself because I was bold, no nonsense...but that was just ego.
I worked for years to separate Ego from Confidence, and it was not as easy as you think. But once I was able to separate the two I saw that one was a defense mechanism to convince society that I am worthy of appreciation and one was pride in the person I have become and the things that I have accomplished regardless of personal set backs. Separating the two also gave me empathy because I could see when others were speaking from a place of ego or a place of confidence.
Plant medicine & spirit work really helped me separate these two.
“Give up defining yourself – to yourself or to others. You won’t die. You will come to life. And don’t be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it’s their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don’t be there primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious Presence. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are.” Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth
Once I let go of how I thought I was perceived and started loving the person I am, loving my flaws, that is when I started feeling more fufilled.
When I talk about self love, I mean loving it all! Loving your scars as much as you love your beautiful smile. Because all of it is YOU.
Happy Valentine's Day, babes!
I hope you get to have a beautiful day with the person you love (you).
And I'll see some of you later in my Valentine's Day Virtual cooking class!💚
